The completely reimagined 2017 Hyundai Elantra was recently the recipient of the “Biggest Bang for the Buck Award” from the Greater Atlanta Automotive Media Association at the 34th Annual Atlanta International Auto Show.
GAAMA members, all industry experts, explored the floor of the Georgia World Congress Center, previewing over 400 new domestic and import cars, light trucks, vans, crossovers and sport utility vehicles on display.
Eileen Falkenberg-Hull, GAAMA Jury Member and Automotive Minute columnist with The Business Journals said while the Elantra received effusive praise from jury members for its class-leading standard safety features and next-generation technology, ultimately it was the incredible performance values that sealed the deal.
“The all-new 2017 Hyundai Elantra convinced the GAAMA Auto Show jurors as the most deserving vehicle for the Biggest Bang for the Buck Award for its overall value that includes segment-first features, class-leading safety technologies and improved efficiency,” she said. “The new Elantra is a major leap forward from its predecessor, yet is priced $100 less, helping Elantra come out on top.”
The Elantra’s smooth, elegant appearance and performance are the fruits of Hyundai’s design philosophy of “dynamic precision,” which draws its unique marriage of form and function from an unusually close collaboration between Hyundai designers and engineers.
The Elantra’s interior encapsulates Hyundai’s signature “modern driver-oriented design” featuring ergonomic and intuitive interfaces, more spacious cabin, ultra-premium materials and first-class technology features that maximize comfort and enhance connectivity. Attractive, soft-touch materials give a pleasant, driver-friendly feel to the fresh, contemporary styling, making the passenger cabin more inviting and comfortable for everybody inside.
All trim levels of the Elantra come equipped with standard iPhone®/USB and auxiliary input jacks and SiriusXM® satellite radio. New to the 2017 model is the addition of two high-tech media interface systems that maximize device connectivity. Sweet features like an available 7.0-inch Display Audio touchscreen system with rearview camera, and Hyundai’s next-generation 8.0-inch navigation system offer upgrade options for the discerning driver looking for maximum value. apps. The new Elantra is also the first Hyundai vehicle to offer an available second USB port for smartphone charging.
Brandon Ramirez, senior group manager, product planning, Hyundai Motor America, said while it’s unsurprising that such an affordable and well-apportioned vehicle won recognition from vehicle experts like GAAMA, the award speaks to Hyundai’s commitment to design excellence and sales leadership.
“This recognition from GAAMA distinguishes the 2017 Elantra from the highly competitive compact sedan segment for its strong value proposition that includes all-new efficient powertrains for improved fuel economy, better ride quality and noise insulation and segment-first premium conveniences,” he said. “Hyundai continues to offer value-packed quality vehicles and this award is a testament we are delivering on that commitment.”
